Nuremberg director acknowledges Charisteas interest

Nuremberg technical director, Martin Bander, confirmed that plenty of interest has been flowing in the Frankenstadion for their Greek striker Angelos Charisteas.

The Greece international has been seeking a move away from Nuremberg since the club’s relegation to the second tier of German football at the end of last season.

Though there is interest in the former Ajax player, Bander revealed there was no desire to part ways with Greece’s golden boy. “Two or three teams from Italy, and one from England, are interested in signing Charisteas,” said Bander.

Despite serious interest from the Serie A’s Chievo Verona, Reggina, and Bologna, and recently the Premier League’s Hull City, Bander revealed Nuremberg was satisfied to keep Charisteas at the Frankenstadion.

“We don’t want to release him,” admitted Bander.

In thirteen appearances for Nuremberg this season, Charisteas has tallied just once – a last minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw with SV Wehen.
