Greek clubs look towards Champions League Draw
Officials from Olympiacos and Panathinaikos will be present in Nyon tomorrow (13:00 GR; 6:00am Eastern), for the 3rd Round Qualifying draw for the 2008/2009 edition of the UEFA Champions League. Olympiacos will make their entrance into the competition in the upcoming round, while Panathinaikos currently have a 3-0 aggregate lead over their Georgian opponents Dinamo Tbilisi and are favourites to progress to the final qualifying round.
Both clubs will be seeded in the draw, but there is a possibility that both teams could be drawn against stiff competition. Olympiacos must qualify for the first time in ten years — all this thanks to a dismal effort by Greek clubs in European competition in recent years. Meanwhile, Panathinaikos has returned to the most prestigious club competition for the first time since the 200/2006 season.
